World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Depending on the upgrade type it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). More inspiring ideas to items can be costly depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. The level of an item can be used to compare items when looking at a vendor's inventory.
The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory says that the item level is determined by an equation that determines the worth of the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzards actual item level.
However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the size of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the range, unless they are an item that is unique, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of those properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It simply gives the player a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is thus more useful in the early game as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each item level. They can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it does not work.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by 5percent.
The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
